Certification and Compliance

How to verify providers against official sources, map redirects, and document your tracking architecture.

What certification means and why it exists

Google may require some third-party click tracking services to be certified so that their handling of destinations and parameters meets Google’s requirements.

Finding and verifying a provider

Open the official certified click tracker list, find the provider and the specific service, and read any applicable requirements. A tracking software vendor may not be the listed service, so verify the exact entity and service.

What certification does and doesn’t establish

It does not make every implementation compliant, guarantee approval, or cover custom domains or settings you configure incorrectly. Status can change; recheck before deployment.

Review process

  1. Identify the tracking provider.
  2. Verify the service against official sources.
  3. Map all redirect destinations.
  4. Review URL parameter handling.
  5. Test the expected user journey.
  6. Document results and unresolved issues.
  7. Recheck official policies before deployment.

Documenting your architecture

Keep a diagram of every domain and hop, the purpose of each, the parameters each reads or writes, the owner, test dates, and the provider’s verified status with source link and date checked.

FAQ and misunderstandings

Does a CNAME make me certified?

No.

Does a certified provider guarantee approval?

No; the implementation still has to comply.
